The Theory TestThe Theory Test is a two part examination consisting of a multiple-choice part and a hazard perception part. The Hazard Perception test is done shortly after you complete the written part of the exam. You need to pass both parts to pass.
You cannot book a Practical Driving Test anywhere in the UK without a Theory Test pass. Once you have passed the certificate is valid for two years.
You can book an Intensive Driving Course before you pass your Theory Test but we cannot arrange your Practical Driving Test until you have passed the Theory. This can often create a gap between the last lesson of your course and your driving test due to Practical Test waiting times however, you can bridge the gap by purchasing extra lessons after the last lesson of your course.
Most people wait until they have passed the Theory Test before booking their course. Doing it this way will ensure you have your Practical Test immediately after your last lesson. If you are unsure of the best length of course to take you can book a 1 or 2 hour trial assessment lesson and your instructor will advise you.
If you intend to do an intensive course you can start taking lessons up to the point when you pass your Theory Test. This will give you some road experience and knowledge which will not only assist in passing the Theory Test but could also result in you requiring a shorter course. It will also allow your instructor to assess your ability and will therefore be able to recommend the course best suited to your rate of learning.
