Reporting for your Practical Test
When attending for your practical test you must produce certain documents and have an appropriately insured and licensed vehicle suitable for the test. Make sure you have these documents available when the examiner calls your name.
At the Driving Test Centre
You must bring the following items with you. If you do not, the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) may refuse to carry out the test and you may lose your fee.
- an appropriately insured and licensed vehicle, displaying L- Plates (except for taxi and Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) part 2 tests), that is suitable for the purpose of the test
- the appropriate theory test pass certificate (or confirmation) if you are not exempt
- both parts of your photo card licence. If you do not take both parts of your licence your test will not take place and you will lose your fee
- if you have an old-style paper licence, you must take your signed driver licence and a valid passport - from 1 November 2005 no other form of photographic identification will be accepted

If you have misplaced your licence, you must apply for a replacement from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), which could take up to 15 days. If this happens, you may have to rearrange your test. back to the top
Apply by phone if you have lost your licence
You can apply by phone if one or both parts of your photocard licence have been lost or stolen and none of your details have changed. DVLA accepts the following credit or debit cards - MasterCard, Visa, Eurocard or Maestro and the fee is £20.00. The telephone number is 0300 790 6801, Monday to Friday 8.00 am - 8.30 pm or Saturday 8.00 am - 5.30 pm.
You won’t be able to apply by phone if you are a paper licence holder or if your photo is due to expire or has expired.
Remenber no licence
- no photo
- no test, and
- you will lose your fee
Your Practical Driving Test
Practical Driving Test appointments are controlled by the Driving Standards Agency and the availability of tests depends on current waiting lists. We use various test centres to obtain acceptable dates and we will advise you of your best options.
It is advisable to book your intensive course well in advance to secure favourable dates, however, we can arrange courses at very short notice with or without the Driving Test. Please contact us to discuss availability.
