Pass Plus comprises a 6 - module training syllabus designed by the DSA to accelerate the acquisition of driving experience and thus improve the safety of new drivers. Modules will not all take the same amount of time to cover, but each course must consist of a minimum of 6 hours tuition, 5 of which are practical in-car sessions.
PASS PLUS offers new drivers financial incentives to undertake further training. Participating insurance companies will recognise drivers who successfully complete the training course through discounts on their car insurance premiums.
-
There is no substitute for experience, but good professional training can accelerate the acquisition, of skills and knowledge by the new driver.
-
PASS PLUS offers new drivers professional instruction and supervision in circumstances where they will have little experience and at the time when they are most vulnerable.
- Its primary aim is to develop the attitudes and skills that are essential for safe driving.
- The course should help new drivers to appreciate the satisfaction to be gained from driving well.
